All of the jewelry we buy, wear and love needs to be cared for. From the engagement ring to that favorite pair of earrings you throw on each morning.
Storing jewelry properly can extend the life of any piece. Using an ice cube tray to store your earrings in is a simple way to also keep them organized. Necklaces should be stored flat to prevent them from kinking. This is also true for chains. Just by wearing your sterling silver you can keep the tarnish from forming. All sterling silver should be stored in a dry darkened area. Placing your jewelry in a closed plastic zip lock bag with an anti tarnish strip and storing in a drawer will slow down the tarnishing process. A fabric bag will also work.
Once your piece has tarnished what can you do?
There are many products on the market. Most of the dipping products do work, but the silver has a tendency to tarnish faster after using these products. The chemicals used can cause discoloration of the stones, coral & pearls used to create your jewelry. What I have found to work the best is dry baking soda and an old toothbrush.
Simply place your jewelry on a paper towel. Pour out a small amount of the baking soda onto the paper towel. Then gather a small amount on the old toothbrush and gently work the baking soda into the sterling silver. You will notice that the baking soda will slightly darken as you start to remove the tarnish. Apply more if needed. To remove the baking soda, simply brush your piece with a large makeup brush. Now your piece is ready to wear an enojoy.

Style. What is Style? Is it never mixing gold and silver, to wear one necklace at a time, or to pair pearls only with cashmere?
What are the rules? Just by looking at you people get a sense of your style. You know what you like, what feels good. Balance is the key. Go ahead and mix gold and silver, choose an exquisite pair of earrings or layer, layer, layer. Your style should reflect your personality, not your Mother’s not your Sister’s or your Best friend. It should be all you!
